Cook Landing Site National Historic Reserve

A granite monument marks the spot where Captain James Cook first landed and set foot on New Zealand soil on October 9th, 1769. The monument, once grand, is now surrounded by old warehouses. While situated on a small reserve, the New Zealand Historic Places Trust continues to strive to protect the monument's integrity.
